HSC Minutes 2.12.25

Meeting start @ 6:00pm

ATTENDEES:

Debbi (principal), Carrie (parent), Joe (teacher), Dan (parent), Nancy (school counselor), Kendra (parent)

PRINCIPLE UPDATE: 

2 short weeks due to President’s Day holiday. 

Winter Dance coming up on 2/28. 

ELAC Mtg on 2/26. 

CASP testing in April. Doing a lot of prep with teachers right now. Ways to increase the rigor in the classrooms. 

Movie screening coming up:, “Fentanyl High”

Sue M. (Assist. Principal) is presenting a safety plan to the Board. Including Narcan training. 

Looking at budgets - no longer have COVID $. B40 is in a good position but out a large chunk of $. 

3/6 - incoming student meeting for parents. Big message is for parents to stay involved - be a “guide on the side”. Would like HSC and other experienced parents to participate. 

TREASURER REPORT

Pledge Drive currently at $802. Goal is $10k. 

Teacher’s requests - $400 avail from HSC. Many teachers have not taken advantage of the funds. Debbi/Joe to remind teachers to use. 

Reconciled Goldfarb pass-thru accounts. 

Bank balance is $110k. Received a $3k donation via Benevity - America Online Giving Foundation.

Review of current year budget. 

Debbi explained how the sport’s coaches' stipends work. Trying to get an additional stipend for the additional Flag Football coaches. 

Nico’s Ice Cream - fundraiser towards end of school year. 

Spring Fest - Dan has gathered all the info from previous years. Debbi suggesting that we reach out to parent volunteer list. Get a Zoom meeting scheduled for anyone interested. Dan to send out a coordination email. 

FUNDING REQUESTS:

AVID Field Trip to UC Berkeley - $350 for charter bus. Funding Request is approved. 

Joe - up to $1600 for t shirts & hoodies. Funding Request is approved.

Joe - Scavenger Hunt - $50 gift certificate

OLD BUSINESS:

Sponsor banners - need to approach those businesses and ask to re-up. Dan will follow-up. What did we charge previously? Ask Katie or Laura. Raise cost to $300?

NEW BUSINESS:

Pledge Drive - possible to do company matching. Third party company - Benevity - is the clearing house for matching donations. Add this info to the communications for the rest of the drive. Possible to update B40 pop-up to promote Pledge Drive. Debbi to f/u. 

8th Grade Pledge Drive to raise money for 8th grade promotion. 

Community Night - Kendra to take on coordinating some of these.

Next HSC Mtg. - focus solely on Spring Fest. 

HSC Mtgs - 1st Wed of each month.
