HSC Minutes 11.13.24

Meeting start @ 6:00pm

ATTENDEES:

PRINCIPLE UPDATE: 

Tamalada was well attended and exciting - already planning for next year. More sales and attendance than past couple of years. Possibility of having a vegetarian option for tamales (lard free)? Would like to do earlier in the school year as a welcome event.

Kindness Week - lessons from teachers, games/fun activities

Turkey Trot is next event - Tues. before TG. Run 1 mile in the neighborhood. Winner gets a TG like food. Need more parents to volunteer for safety - talk it up! 

TREASURER REPORT

Tamalada income - net $3716.11

$5500 grant funding - earmarked for sports uniforms. Question: does this grant always go towards sports uniforms? 

Grant from National Marine Sanctuary to pay Deb McArthur (garden coordinator) with matching funds from HSC & private donor. Need to follow-up on how that is distributed. 

$600 collected by Joe at basketball tournament. 

Sponsor banners - need to approach those businesses and ask to re-up. Dan will follow-up. What did we charge previously? Ask Katie or Laura. Raise cost to $300?

Bank balance ~$108k

Sports sweatshirts - list to come from Chris Carlock. Same design as previous years. 1 per student that does sports sometime during their time at B40.

Scoreboard not needed. Keep the money.

FUNDING REQUESTS:

Donut Dash - 1 mile or so before the Holiday Parade. $50. Motion approved. 

BeeWear to be sold to encourage school spirit. Sweatshirts, beanies, long sleeve t-shirts, patches. $1000 seed money. Motion approved. 

Turkey Trot prizes. $100. Motion approved. 

OLD BUSINESS:

Drive for Schools recap - $5189 (more than last year). Underestimated amount of tickets needed. Next year band students (or other groups) can stand in front of businesses to sell tickets. 

NEW BUSINESS:

Dan suggests that fundraisers may need to be earmarked to specific groups (i.e. arts, band, sports, etc). Some small amount to be designated to the “general fund” for HSC. 

Pledge Drive (February)

Spring Fest (April)

Pancake Breakfast (March 8th) - band competition & travel. All volunteer/donated event - just need a staff member to be on site. 

T-shirts - only for students that want them. Ask for a contribution, $4 or $5, HSC would cover the difference. Have done popcorn and clothing sales in past. QR code to pay. Joe to get quotes. Possible to setup an online store - made to order. Want to use Fighting Bee logo. 

T-shirt design contest? Coordinate with Sara Goldfarb’s digital media class? 

SC Warriors promotion - B40 night. Sarah will follow-up with the Warriors rep to get more info. 2/13 game.
